For those of you who missed the article, here are some tips to remember when considering painting your home’s exterior;

~Exterior Painting is best when the temp is between 36-94 degrees. Unlike some other areas, Charlotte homeowner’s have the option to paint their exteriors pretty much year round due to the mild temps.

~Do not paint during the height of pollen season as the pollen will stick to wet paint.

~It is time to repaint when you notice flaking and/or fading and when caulk around your homes soffit and fascia begins to split and crack. Once your caulking is compromised, water starts to intrude creating mold and allowing for other issues to set in.

~Pressure washing should be done at least once a year to protect your home’s exterior as well as your fencing.

~HOA’s- For those of you who live in a neighborhood with an HOA, it is important to check with your HOA before painting your exterior as many regulate exterior color schemes. If you choose one that is not approved, chances are you will have to have it repainted at your own expense.

~For those of you who do not live in a neighborhood with an HOA, your exterior color selection should be considered carefully. Consider how much sun your home gets and how the color may be affected over time.
